I began doing tax work in 1995, when the World Wide Web was just becoming widely accessible. Being a huge fan and early adopter of email from my days as a programmer at Xerox Corp. in the mid-1980s, I realized that

email and the web would revolutionize many information-based fields.

Effective communication using the Internet allows me to stay in touch and work closely with clients. Electronic newsletters keep you informed. Email contact allows me to be responsive to your questions and reply thoughtfully. My clients know that I am only a "click" away.

Welcome Visitors,

I am an Enrolled Agent providing income tax preparation services to clients located throughout the State of California. My goal is to be thorough, accurate, and highly responsive, thereby taking the stress and worry out of tax time.

A native of Marin County, I have lived at various times in Sacramento, San Francisco, Berkeley, Torrance and Long Beach, before settling in the SF Bay Area city of Fremont in 1988.

My father is a retired actuary and my mother's side of the family produced many engineers. Grandfather George Earl Troxell was an engineering professor at the University of California at Berkeley, where I received a bachelor's degree in computer science. After a number of years working as a software engineer, I discovered my passion for the tax field. I passed the Enrolled Agent exam in 1989 and started my own business in 1995.

Working with California family child care providers became the focus of my tax practice in 2007. After seeing numerous blatant errors in day care tax returns prepared by others, I came to the unhappy conclusion that most tax professionals are not very knowledgeable about the business of family child care. I now enjoy working with child care providers located throughout the state.

Please contact me by email or phone with any questions.

Yours truly,

I passed all parts of the Enrolled Agent exam in a single sitting to earn my E.A. credential in 1989. This difficult, two-day test is administered by the Internal Revenue Service and covers all areas of taxation.

Many tax preparers do not have this demonstrated competency in their field.

Because Enrolled Agents are "admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service," I can deal directly with the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board on behalf of clients, thereby resolving any issues that come up.

I want my clients to have peace of mind where tax preparation is concerned and to relieve the anxiety that comes with finding a letter from the IRS in your mailbox.

I keep current with many hours of continuing education each year to maintain my professional standing and provide excellent client education and service.

It is my pleasure to work with many family child care providers. From what I've seen, most tax professionals are not very aware of child care tax considerations. Nor are they particularly interested in attracting and working with family child care clients.

Daycare providers are some of the hardest working folks around. They nurture our little ones and provide an essential service in our communities. They also face a daunting array of legal, licensing and tax considerations.

Of all the business owners I've worked with, child care providers are the most in need of specialized, affordable, quality care. They value a trusted advisor who can help them comply with record keeping and tax filings. I am glad to be able to fill that position for many.
